ADRENAL NEOPLASIA

Driving scientific progress through collaborative teamwork

Adrenal cortical carcinoma (ACC) is one of the rarest and most deadly forms of cancer.

In his laboratory, internationally acclaimed medical investigator Gary Hammer, M.D., Ph.D., the Millie Schembechler Professor of Adrenal Cancer and director of the Endocrine Oncology Program, and his team are using mouse models, advanced sequencing methods, and analysis of hormonal signals to investigate how a protein called steroidogenic factor 1 (SF1) helps regulate the balance between producing new cells and forming specialized cells. This research has significant implications for understanding both normal physiology and disease states like cancer.
