From children undergoing treatment to elderly patients in recovery, our facility dogs at the Lipschutz-Danzansky Family Paws4Patients Program touch the lives of everyone they meet. The presence of these loving animals provides solace and emotional healing that can transcend traditional medical interventions. The program is proud to host seven golden retrievers who have the unique ability to meet the complex needs of our patients. Recently, facility dog Dashiel was invited to sit front-row at a talent show featuring patients, families, and staff. An engaged audience member, Dashiel turned his head making eye contact with everyone in the room when the song “Hound Dog” was sung just for him. The facility dogs and their handlers continue to work closely with faculty and staff throughout the hospital to find unique ways to spread joy and healing.
